What makes the organization you are working for special?
The challenges is in our markets are in themes like food security, urbanisation and natural resources. These themes are important, but will be even more important in the future due to for example the increasing world population and climate change. In soil and water management new technologies are used to conduct research more easy, make results more accessible or even take on challenges that were unthinkable in the past.
Furthermore Eijkelkamp Soil & Water contains all possible business activities, from Research & Development and Sales upto Operations and Logistics.
What motivates you in regard to technology?
Technology enables new developments helping you move forward. What wasn’t possible in the past, is now common knowledge. Technology also enables learning and discovering new things, getting new insights. Discovering seems so much more easily done nowadays and that triggers being curious and wanting to explore. It is interesting to see that technical development can go two ways, and there seems to be an interaction between the two. Development of products or technology to reach a set goal but also development that leads to setting new goals.
Which challenge would you give the New Enigineer who will come to work at Eijkelkamp Soil & Water?
‘To translate the customer’s demand into the design of tomorrow’s product’ (a statement by Frank Tillmann, Managing Director at Eijkelkamp Soil & Water)
With our philosophy and vison on technology as starting point both development driven by the market and development through technological discoveries can be a starting point. Depending on the background of the student and his personal interests it is possible to be engaged in product development, operations or in products & application.
